On a grim note Lester Buck sent me a link about bicyclists injured and killed during 2009 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Texas statistics show 48 bicycle fatalities in 2009, ranking third. The state with the highest number (107) was Florida. California was second with 99. The average age for bicyclist fatalities is 41.
