Event Beneficiary
Ride Ataxia Dallas benefits the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA).
Event Background
At 17 Kyle Bryant was diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare, life shortening disease that affects muscle control and coordination. As a young athlete this meant losing many of the activities he enjoyed but the one activity he would not give up was cycling. In 2007, riding his recumbent tricycle, Kyle created Ride Ataxia with a 60-day, 2,500 mile bicycle ride from San Diego, CA to Memphis, TN
Event History
The goal of this ride was to educate the public, enable research through funding, and empower others through inspiration and motivation. Over 3,500 miles and $960,000 in research funds later, the spirit of Ride Ataxia is stronger than ever and is now the marquis fundraising event for the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance. Today Ride Ataxia offers both challenging and family-friendly rides all across the country.
