A Night Time Wind – October 25th Bike Ride
I am not sure what is causing the wind to pick up today but it is blowing quite a lot. When I left on my evening ride the wind was 17 mph from the south with gusts to 25 mph. When I got back it is was still 15 mph from the south with 22 mph gusts. Usually when I ride my Raleigh M800 I use the 6th gear on the cassette with the middle ring on the crankset. Tonight there were times when I was heading south that I had to go to the 5th gear on the cassette. Some of this is the weight of the M800 over my road bike, Motobecane Le Champion. The temperature was warm with the weatherman saying the record high for this date could be reached. I don’t think that happened though. With the wind the clouds were thicker than usual. This is in contrast to the lower temperatures predicted for later in the week. Lots of dust and leaves blowing around. These are tough to see in the dark.
There was a bumper crop of unlit joggers and walkers out during the ride. So far I have been able to spot them in time. Today’s ride information:
- October miles 492.46
- YTD miles 4494.06
