August 12th Bike Ride – We’re Cooking But No Rain

Two days in a row riding. The threatened rain was a no-show and the heat stayed around but it was only 91 degrees during the evening ride. The heat index did make it to 100 but no more. Skies turned out to be partly cloudy and the wind was barely detectable at 6 mph from the south. The aired up tires continue to make the pedaling somewhat easier so I stepped up to one gear higher when I could. Since it is essentially flat as a pancake around here the major obstacle is the wind. This evening’s ride was a race to get the distance I was aiming for before the sunset. With no cloud cover the daylight lasted long enough. I am starting to be pressed for time to ride 24 – 25 miles and I will probably need to scale back a couple miles in a week or so. I may be able to compensate on the Saturday ride. No other riders again tonight.
Today’s ride statistics:
