Saturday 52 Mile Morning Road Race:
Morning race starts at 7:30 a.m. at Port Isabel High School located on Highway 100. NEW THIS YEAR!! Prizes for best sprint and climbs. Course will be marked for sprinting and climbing. Exact locations for sprint & climbs to be determined. Cool prizes for winners of sprints and climbs.
Race Across Queen Isabella Causeway: The night race is the official kick-off to the annual Iron Horse Sunset Memorial Parade which features hundreds of motorcycles parading across the Causeway and traveling the entire length of the Island to the Convention Center. Cyclists line up on the Island and cross the Causeway twice before racing down the main boulevard of the Island for the finish. Thousands of spectators line the parade route to watch the motorcycles roar by and this year they will be treated to our 4th exciting bicycle race to the finish line. The Causeway is normally closed to bicycle traffic, so take advantage of this great opportunity to show what you are made of!
Sunday Morning BicycleTour & Poker Run:
Staging for the King of the Causeway Tour & Poker Run will be at SPI Convention Center and Visitor’s Bureau on the Island. Packet pick up starts at 6:30 a.m. The tour & poker run starts at 7:30 a.m. and its route takes you down the main boulevard on the Island, across the Causeway, and through some of the small, friendly towns in deep South Texas. Your first poker card is drawn at registration, then draw one at each of the support stations located on the course. Turn in your poker hand at the end of the ride to be eligible to win fantastic door prizes. SAG support provided by Team McAllen Cycling and SPI BikeFest. Course maps will be posted as soon as details are finalized. New this year!! On Sunday, women ride free. Must be accompanied by fully registered adult male.
