July 12th Bike Ride – Hot and Dry for a Change
After last week’s rain deluge this week is the exact opposite. With the wind out of the southwest at 12 mph (gusts to 17 mph) the humidity has dropped and the temperature has risen to the mid-90’s. This is my kind of weather. This reminds me of the weather when I go to Wichita Falls for the Hotter’n Hell Hundred.
This evening’s ride was a good start for the week. I took yesterday off as a rest day. Saturday was a longer ride and I moved furniture around Friday night. Then Saturday after the ride I planted a dozen Nandina’s in the yard to replace some other plants that did not survive the dry and heat. Then on Sunday I planted myself in front of the TV to watch stage 8 of the Tour de France. It was an exciting stage with Lance suffering some problems.
Today’s ride statistics:
- miles = 24.4
- riding time = 1:38:09
- average pace = 4:01 min/mile
- average speed = 14.9 mph
- max speed = 21.4 mph
- average cadence = 78.5 rpm
- max cadence = 109 rpm
- climb 177 ft., descend 180 ft., max elevation 108 ft.
- July miles 203.27
- YTD miles 2769.93
