July 8th Bike Ride – Wow! They Sure Dried Fast!
On the way to work this morning I pretty much wrote off today for riding but on the way home I noticed the streets were pretty dry in my area so I began to think riding was possible. While the skies were overcast with the occasional break for the sun. Wind was a light 8 mph from the SE. Temperature felt cool when I left home at 84 degrees. Over the last two days the area had almost 8 inches of rain. This more than we usually have all month.
After one day off the bike due to the rain it was good to get back on. It is amazing how fast the streets dry off once the rain stops. I think it was still raining at 3:00 PM but by 6:30 PM I had to look closely to see signs of the rain. For a moment I was saying to myself “take today off and ride on Friday.” Friday is normally a rest day to prepare for Saturday’s long ride. The drying out changed my mind.
