Drop, Drop, Flash Flood, Spells Drought Relief; May 16th Bike Ride
As I have noted before, East Harris County was near drought conditions. Thanks to rain Friday evening and Saturday the drought has been pushed back. Why this relates to biking is that the Saturday morning rains canceled the Houston area Special Olympics bicycle competition at Memorial Park. My niece was scheduled to ride in the 1K and 5K races. We were on our way to the park when we got word. It is touching to see the effort and commitment these athletes put forth in the competition. I had planned on posting some pictures.
Mostly cloudy today, temperatures in the mid-80’s and a light 5 mph N wind made for an enjoyable ride. The rain washed away some of the road debris as well as some pollen. Only a couple of other riders were out during my ride that I saw.
