No May Pole But There Was A May Ride, May 1st Bike Ride
Once upon a time I did dance/run around a May Pole. It was a tether ball post decorated with streamers. This had to be at young age, maybe 6 or 7. Any older and one would be considered foolish to engage in such activity. Bike riding is a different thing though. After doing some chores around the house I headed out for a longer ride than usual for a Saturday. Spring weather has arrived with the temperature at 87 degrees and mostly cloudy. I thought March was supposed to be the month with the wind but today was windy with a steady 15 to 20 mph SSE wind. At about the 41 mile mark I was bonking. I had eaten a banana and a little cup of sunflower seeds before leaving. This was not enough fuel to power against the wind. So a stop at the Valero station on FM1314 was in order. After some Mesquite BBQ Kettle chips and a couple of Fiber One bars along with 30 minutes of rest I was ready to do battle with the wind. Made it home and now I am in recovery mode.
