by Streetsblog Capitol Hill (blog)

[A]fter a huge turnout of support from local bike riders, including the newly formed Bike Friendly Fort Worth, the Fort Worth city council unanimously approved the radical new Bike Fort Worth bicycle transportation plan. This plan will, among other things, massively increase Fort Worth’s bike infrastructure from its current state of just over 100 miles (emphasis on recreational trails) to nearly 1,000 miles (the vast majority of which will be on-street bike lanes and sharrow routes). Good enough excuse for me anyway. …
Blue Bike Perimeter Ride: February 9, to Kirbyville, TX: Entering …
By Nancy Wright
It was really cloudy and only 38 degrees when I got up this morning. There was a lot of rain last night during a couple of hours of thunderstorms, but it was so windy that everything was dry this morning. They offered a small breakfast selection at the motel, but it was enough to get me going.
I followed US Route 190 for a good part of the day. There wasn’t much traffic on it, mostly logging trucks. The shoulder was wide and pretty smooth. The wind blew between 10-20 miles an hour from the north as I was generally headed west or southwest. …
