Some local cities will soon see more officers patrolling the streets on two wheels instead of four.
The Waco Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation donated 10 mountain bikes to five Texas police departments Wednesday. Law enforcement departments in Bellmead, Woodway, Tyler, Abilene and at Abilene Christian University each received two bikes, valued at $800 each and equipped with strobe lights, water bottles and a carrying case for police items.
“It’s in support of what you strive to do, to provide the safety and security of your communities that you serve, of the clients that you serve, even of your own families,†Waco Scottish Rite Chairman Claude Ervin told representatives of the departments at a presentation ceremony at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum.
