After 25,000 miles I replaced my 2018 Canyon Endurace CF SLX with the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS eTap.. The Canyon replaced the Stradalli Red Pro 14 Carbon. Other bikes in my stable: Blue Norcross AL and Lynskey R300 Titanium road bike. The first ride on the Cervelo was February 9th, 2022.
My name is Rick Ankrum. Since 1979 I have been enjoying bicycling in Texas. It started with a Huffy 26″ bicycle purchased at the Woolco Store in Humble, TX. I rode that bike for a year or so until it wore out. I then moved into the “real” bicycle world when I purchased a Schwinn Le Tour at Bicycles Etc. in Kingwood, TX. What followed was a love of all things bicycling. Over the years I have owned 2 Cannondales, several Trek’s, a Raleigh M800 mountain, Mercier Serpens, a GT road bike and probably one or two others that I cannot remember.
Early on I learned about the League of American Wheelmen (LAW). It was about this time that I heard about organized rides, metric centuries and centuries. I started riding to earn patches from LAW and still have a jacket that my wife sewed on the first patches I earned. My first century was a solo one with no support other than my wife driving to the jack in the Box in Cleveland to pick me up. I am not sure when this took place but I remember the route I rode.
In 1999 I had a burning desire to create a web site focused on Texas bicycling. Over the years this web site has existed many people have visited. As I think of information I need to bicycle I add them to the web site.
When I started Texbiker.net the website was hand coded in HTML. After trying to keep the website up to date using that method one day I heard about WordPress. This was when version 1.5 was just coming out. I decided to move the website to WordPress and have been using the WP ever since. If you want to see what Texbiker.net use to look like visit The Wayback Machine at www.archive.org and search for Texbiker.net.
In 2009 Texbiker.net started providing a daily news summary of Texas bicycling. It is surprising how much news is generated each day.
The Lynksey Helix was ordered in December 2021 and I took my first ride on May 29th, 2022 shortly after it arrived. I provided wheels separate from what Lynkey offered.
The Blue Norcross AL arrived in 2017 for my ride on the Florida Keys. I use it now to Zwift on my Wahoo Kickr Snap smart trainer.
Texbiker.net is information central for all bicycling activities and news happening in the state of Texas.
The website is owned by Email @ dot com, LLC, Kingwood, Texas.
Each general category is monitored for new information. If you are aware of changes or new information please send e-mail to: texbiker@texbiker.net
