From Climbing Overpasses to Strava Legends: A 38-Mile Journey
I ticked off the remaining compass point riding south on the Atascocita – Balmoral – W Lake Houston Pkwy – Walden route. My Cervelo Caledonia carried me under an overcast sky starting at 9:45 AM. I rode through a couple patches of mist but no rain. The last time I rode this route was June 27th covering 38.47 miles and today I rode 38.37 miles. The challenge on this route is the two “climbs” up the railroad overpass on Timber Forest Drive. Thankfully the wind came at my sides. I stopped for a few minutes at the Blue Lagoon but no one was in the water. I made the u-turn at W. Lake Houston Parkway after riding there with mostly a tailwind. That meant a headwind on the way back. My legs had a tough time into the wind. I stopped at the Chevron station at FM1960 for a snack and rest my legs for the last 8 miles. I didn’t follow the same streets today compared to the last ride. I finished at 1:14 PM. Looking at my AXS.SRAM.com ride report I made 45 rear derailleur shifts more than a typical ride. I reclaimed a Strava Local Legend on Kings Crossing North (2:38) and a PR on Mont Chemin de Fer (2:00).
