El Paso cyclists advocate for better maintenance of the city’s bike lanes

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Cyclists in El Paso have a lot to love: year-round sunshine, mountainous terrain, and of course, lifelong friendships. As enthusiasm for the sport grows, the city says it’s investing in its bike infrastructure.
KFOX14 spoke with Anna Mesa-Zendt, El Paso’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program Manager, who said when the city first adopted its bike plan almost a decade ago, El Paso had just 140 miles of bike lanes. Today, that number stands at 450 miles and continues growing.

TxDOT will host “Bike Roadeo” to raise biking safety awareness

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – TxDOT Wichita Falls is partnering with the Wichita Falls/Wichita County Public Health District to create a “Bike Roadeo” experience at WFISD’s Summer Camp.
Designed for children ages 6-12, the event will provide bicycle and safety education as well as free helmets for those located in the Wichita Falls area. Eligible students located near Scotland Park and the surrounding neighborhoods are strongly encouraged to join, as the area is considered high-risk for cyclists.
