The Plan Was Grand, Reality Not So Grand
The plan for today’s bike ride was the Spring Creek Greenway to City Place, back to the San Jacinto Bayou Greenway. I rode this route once before on Memorial Day May 27th. This would be my June bike ride on the greenway. Rolling away at 9:24 AM on my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike. The ride suffered the first incident when I dropped the GoPro camera while putting it back on the mount about half a mile into the ride. The wireless mic receiver unit split open and I feared it wouldn’t work. I snapped the pieces back together, lo and behold it worked. Thank you Lord. With that incident behind me I rode through Forest Cove, Hamblen Road, over the Bevill Jarrell Bridge and approached the US59 trailhead to the Spring Creek Greenway. It was blocked off with an excavator digging in front of the gate. The sign sign said closed June 24 – June 28. So much for the planned ride. From there I improvised a route heading north through Kingwood Place, Oakhurst, Briar Tree, and Forest Colony. Not the same streets as the Forest Cove – Oakhurst – Forest Colony route but close enough. All was well until I turned onto Knox Street from the US59 frontage road. The mount attached to the GoPro broke crashing the GoPro and wireless mic to the pavement again. Those two had a rough ride! More scratches on the GoPro media mod but the wireless mic didn’t crack open this time. I put the GoPro in my jersey pocket and continued the ride into Woodridge Forest, Sherwood Trails, and Elm Grove finishing at 12:08 PM, relieved the GoPro and mic survived.
