At First It Was Promising, Then Not Promising, and Then Promising Again
At first it was promising, then not promising and then promising again. That describes today’s bike ride. I started at 10:56 AM riding my Cervelo Caledonia bike. I waited for the streets to dry some after some light rain earlier. I planned on biking north following the Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood route. Yesterday I didn’t think biking outdoors would happen because of rain but the rain stopped and the streets dried off. It was promising until Log Orchard Lane in Woodridge Forest. I rounded the turn and saw rain up ahead. That’s when it wasn’t promising anymore. I turned around and pedal hard to the Woodridge Forest Pool but not fast enough. The rain caught me and I got soaked. It looked like the rain would last for awhile but it slowed and then stopped. The streets were wet but it was promising again and I left the sanctuary of the pool cover. At first I said to myself ride to Brooklyn Trails and see if the rain stays away. I got there and no rain. The next goal was FM1314, no rain there. Somewhere between FM1314 and TX99 the damp road turned to dry like it hadn’t rained so the plan was to continue to New Caney, ride under US59 on the south side of Caney Creek and then ride south. That’s what happened. On Valley Ranch Parkway the damp road reappeared but no rain. I rode through Briar Tree, Oakhurst, Kings Manor and into Kingwood but to the south the overcast sky looked like it might rain. I finished at 1:45 PM with no more rain. I washed the Cervelo and not long after it started raining. But I was inside now.
