Richardson native Dalton Walters from USA Cycling joined more than 400 cyclists to help celebrate the fifth annual Juneteenth Bicycle Rally. LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – If your kids like riding their bikes this summer, the Laredo Police and the Texas Department of Transportation have the perfect event for you.
Both agencies will be co-hosting their 2024 Bike Rodeo and Summer Safety Fair on Friday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the El Eden Park and Rec Center.
There, residents will learn about bike and pedestrian safety, and those attending are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets.
Law enforcement will have free child ID cards and even car seat installations.
There will also be a free bike raffle.

The bicycle race is geared for children under 10 who can ride the entire course without adult assistance.
ABILENE, Texas — Abilene’s second annual Kid’s Treadfest, a race for children under 10 who can ride without adult’s help, is happening July 20 at Red Bud Park.
There will be three different heats: big wheels and trikes, training wheels and standard bicycles. The route will be 1 mile for training wheels and standard bikes and the big wheel/trikes heat will race about a quarter-mile. Staff will be stationed throughout the route to assist as needed. City officials end contract with Houston Bike Share, will remove all stations

The city of Houston is canceling its contract with Houston BCycle, a bike share program that operates 150 stations within the municipality and distributes over 1,300 bicycles to residents.
What happened
The bike sharing system will stop operations June 30. According to a June 14 news release, the city will remove stations and bikes over the next few months, and intends to sell the equipment to other bike share systems or sell it through the city’s public surplus auction.
Houston Bike Share, the city’s operator of the bike share system, previously announced plans to shut down in September.

No one showed up for San Antonio’s World Naked Bike Ride on Saturday

The long-touted event was supposed to have left Saturday from Alamo Plaza, which was free both of nude people and bicycles.
Plenty of people were present at Alamo Plaza on Saturday evening. All clothed and none riding bicycles.
Which probably was a big disappointment for anyone who’d read online for San Antonio’s iteration of the World Naked Bike Ride, a series of nationwide events where bare-assed cyclists protest oil dependency and body shaming.
The three-hour ride was supposed to have departed at 8 p.m. from Alamo Plaza — had any nudists actually showed up. …

This is the final week of LCYCL Summer Camp with YCL finals next Tuesday. USAC week starts tomorrow with TNR, followed by State Championships throughout the week. TNR: This week’s TNR is USAC sanctioned with upgrade points available. F200s: There were many personal bests with Imaan getting the fastest time. Keirins: Alexandra, James Wyatt, Marcos, Logan, and Imaan were among the winners in their groups. Sprints: Due to rain, sprints were reduced to one round. Imaan won the overall sprint race.
