Navigating Tavola: A Refreshing Ride On Flag Day
A northerly ride to Tavola took me through several Kingwood villages, Woodridge Forest, Brooklyn Trails, Porter, and New Caney. Riding on Via Principale Parkway I turned right onto Gran Roble Drive to explore the side streets. I last rode the New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch route on May 8th, 2024. I didn’t think it had been that long ago. No home construction on the streets I rode in Tavola. In Tavola West numerous homes are under construction. Today I changed the lead in from the start riding some streets in reverse or skipping them. In Elm Grove Village I rearranged the streets as well. From there the ride followed the usual streets. The previous 4 rides on the route this year average about 38 miles and today I rode 37.88 miles. This put me at 480.49 miles or 53% of my 908 mile goal, slightly ahead of the pace needed. I started at 9:42 AM and finished at 12:50 PM avoiding the heat of the day. During the ride the wind was 7 mph or less. On the way back to Kingwood I stopped under TX99 at Valley Ranch Parkway for a few minutes to enjoy the shade and sometime breeze. My Canyon Endurace bike now has 4079 miles. My legs felt good today propelling me along. The route only has a few long stretches to build up my average speed so I didn’t get to 14.0 mph overall.
