No Train Blockage This Ride: Waving Hello To Cyclists
Mostly repeating last Saturday’s bike ride I rolled away at 8:33 AM on my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike. The Atascocita – Huffman – Walden route goes through several Kingwood Villages, south on W. Lake Houston Parkway, moving to Kings River Drive and Atascocita Shores Drive to connect with FM 1960 at the west shore of Lake Houston. I like this route on Saturday’s because other cyclists usually are there too and today was no exception. The key to seeing them is not leaving after 8:30 or before. I was a few minutes late from watching the Tour of Britain Women race. No train blocking the crossing on Old Atascocita road like last Saturday. The wind was light at the start but increased to 13 mph with 21 mph gusts by the time I finished at 11:15 AM. I felt the difference in the wind but my direction was not into it after making the turn at FM2100. I rearranged the order of some of the streets in the beginning and the end to get to FM1960 quicker and add distance at the end.
Weather: Start 80 degrees, humidity 85%, dew point 75.1, fair, wind N 4 mph; Finish 90 degrees, humidity 64%, dew point 75.8, a few clouds, wind S 13 mph gusts 21 mph.
