First Ride On My New Trek Marlin 8 MTB
Today was my first ride on the Trek Marlin 8 MTB I bough last month. I haven’t had an opportunity to ride it until today. I can’ remember the last time I rode a MTB and this was a get to know me ride. Checking SportTracks I saw the last MTB I owned was a Motobecane – 2010 700HT last rode 6 years 2 months ago. The Trek rides on 29″ tires and is a size M/L which took some time to learn how to get on and off. Figuring out how to change the rear gears took a few minutes too. One lever was behind the brake lever on the right side. Compared to the 28mm tires on my road bikes the 29×2.35 tire looked huge but they absorbed bumps my road bikes would’ve bounced over. The weather was great for a MTB ride on Kingwood’s greenbelt trails. Weather: Start 82 degrees, humidity 62%, dew point 67.5, partly cloudy, wind S 12 mph gusts 20 mph; Finish 81 degrees, humidity 61%, dew point 66.7, partly cloudy, wind SE 14 mph. An extra reward from Strava Local Legend on Kings Crossing North (2:31).
