Back To Back Windy Rides, 1 1/3 Dog Sprints
Back to back windy bike rides are not leg friendly. Yesterday I started the bike ride into the wind and mostly finished with a tailwind. Today it was the opposite. I rode north following the New Caney – Roman Forest Blvd – Oakhurst route like I did a week ago but on a different bike. Today I rode the Lynskey Helix bike going 34.63 miles, a little less than last week but enough to put me over my 700 road mile goal with 711.5 miles. To add spice to the ride there was a dog sprint on Cedar Forest Drive in Elm Grove Village about 2.6 miles in the bike ride. The video recounts the sprint. Later in Brooklyn Trails almost another dog sprint happened but the woman had the dog on a leash with the dog barking and growling charging at me to the end of the leash. Enough dog sprints for one ride. Riding to Roman Forest Blvd. went well thanks to the strong tailwind out of the SE. After finishing the ride at 1:22 PM the NOAA weather app showed the wind at 22 mph with 30 mph gusts. No wonder it was hard pedaling on Valley Ranch Parkway, through Briar Tree and some of Oakhurst. No rest breaks today. The Lynskey’s chain was a little noisy during the ride, time to clean and wax. This is the original chain with 3466 miles. Overall weather: Start 80 degrees, humidity 83%, dew point 74.6, partly cloudy, wind SE 14 mph; Finish 84 degrees, humidity 69%, dew point 73.2, mostly cloudy, wind SE 22 mph gusts 30 mph.
