Lubbock officials have future plans for bike lanes in the Hub City

LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lubbock said its working to make the city a safer place for both bicyclists and pedestrians, helping those like Patricia Burell, who rely on their bikes to get everywhere they need to go.
“It’s good for exercise, it’s good for your heart, it’s a healthy way to get around,” Burell said. “A bike helps me get around when I need to, whether it’s the library, or Walmart or here or to Open Door, or wherever I need to go.” …
Attention bikers: The Lamar Street/Allen Parkway bike lane will be closed for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure through 5 p.m. Oct. 7. Driver sentenced for deadly bicycle hit-and-run

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A man who left the scene after striking and killing a bicyclist a year ago has been sentenced to prison.
Jesus Mondragon was arrested last May, six months after the victim, 64-year-old Jose Medina died.
Mondragon pleaded guilty to his charge of accident involving a death and was given a 42 month prison sentence in 30th District Court this morning. …
