Texas State Road Racing Championships cyclists clad in race gear and helmets, sat atop their bicycles and listened intently as Race Director Andy Hollinger took a moment to remember the namesake of the weekend event early Saturday morning at Fort Cavazos.
Also known as the Bill Weinlein Memorial Championship Races, the annual two-day cycling competition is held in memory of cyclist and long-time official Bill Weinlein, who succumbed to melanoma this year.

TxDOT looking for feedback for San Antonio District Bicycle Plan

Residents, employees and business owners can give feedback on the San Antonio District Bicycle Plan, which aims to make it easier to ride a bicycle on state roads, according to the TxDOT website.
Through Oct. 9, a survey will be available to the public. The survey highlights the trails throughout the district and allows for feedback on specific trail sections or proposals on new trail routes.
The San Antonio District is one of the four piloting districts throughout the state, with Bryan, Pharr and Laredo being the other three.

TARRANT COUNTY – The public is invited to attend a virtual public meeting with an in-person option for a proposed project on FM 1187 from the Parker County line (Bella Flora Drive) to Chisholm Trail Parkway in Tarrant County.
The in-person option will be an open-house format with no formal presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Benbrook High School located at 201 Overcrest Dr., Benbrook.
The virtual meeting will be available beginning Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. here (www.txdot.gov, Keyword: FM 1187 West Tarrant). A pre-recorded video, project information, and project maps will be available at both options.
The project proposes reconstructing and widening FM 1187 from an existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with a curbed center median. The disjointed intersection at FM 1187 and US 377 will be reconstructed to an overpass with continuous alignment. The project also proposes to construct off-roadway shared-use paths (12-foot sidewalks) in each direction for bicycle and pedestrian accommodation, construct an overpass at the Fort Worth and Western Railroad crossing, and conversion of roadside ditches to underground storm sewers. …
