Unexpectedly Passed By Another Cyclist On Loop 494
I selected a route I’ve only rode twice before for today’s bike ride. I wanted variety plus the last time I rode it the distance came in at 38.23 miles which could put me very close to 200 miles for the week. The streets are not new to me but the combination of them results in this route, Community Drive – Cumberland – Forest Cove. In Porter I took FM 1314 east to Loop 494 which I don’t ride very often. Unexpectedly another cyclist passed me around Keith Drive. I can’t remember that happening before. Returning to Kingwood via Hamblen Road and the San Jacinto Bayou Greenway was the other difference from the similar Community Drive – Cumberland – Oakhurst route. The ride began at 9:29 AM when I rode off on my Cervelo Caledonia bike and ended at 12:42 PM. It warmed up by the time I finished and the wind got stronger too. Weather for the bike ride: Start 84 degrees, 79% humidity, dew point 76.8, partly cloudy, wind NE 5 mph; Finish90 degrees, 65% humidity, dew point 76.3, partly cloudy, wind S 10 mph gusts 20 mph. When I stopped at the Oakhurst pool and park sitting in the shade with the wind blowing through the trees it felt cooling. The quiet and cooling made it hard to get back on the Cervelo.
