Kept The 200+ Mile Week String Alive, But Stretched Rides Two Days In A Row To Do It
My goal for today’s bike ride was 34 miles to reach 200+ miles for the week. To do that I rode my Canyon Endurace on the Atascocita – Huffman – Walden route but added about 3 miles to the typical ride of 34 miles. Those 3 extra miles boosted my week’s total to 203.64 miles. Not too much over but enough for the 12th week in a row over 200 miles. If it isn’t too hot after church tomorrow I will ride to add more miles.
I started a little later than I wanted because I watched part of the women’s race Classic Lorient from France while eating breakfast. Maybe I ate slower than I should’ve. I rode away at 8:14 AM with the temperature in the mid 70’s, unusual lately for it to be below 80. On Saturdays I look forward to possibly seeing other cyclists but wondered if starting 30 minutes later I would miss. Not to worry. I think I saw as many as usual, maybe a few more. The first big group caught my eye as I turned left onto FM 1960 from Atascocita Shores Drive. Then on Fairlake Lane and Old Atascocita Road more passed. Most of them are in the video.
Weather: Start 75 degrees, 83% humidity, dew point 69.8, partly cloudy, wind N 5 mph; Finish 92 degrees, 52% humidity, dew point 71.5, a few clouds, wind NE 7 mph.
My legs felt good and the light wind didn’t present too much headwind challenges. My AXS.SRAM.com ride report reflects that with 25 rear derailleur shifts, 1:47:49 in the 35×13 gears (24.9 miles) out of a total moving time of 2:51:17. It was a great day to ride my bike. Praise the Lord.
