Video Recovery, Traffic Pattern Change, August “Cool” Front
Today’s bike ride skipped the camera drama from yesterday. Best buy had the GoPro Hero9 on sale and retired the Drift Ghost XL from video duties going forward. It will be my backup camera once the Hero 10 replacement arrives though looking at today’s video it is hard to tell the difference.
The start time was much earlier today with me rolling our at 9:10 AM on my Canyon Endurace bike. Heading south and east on my Atascocita – Walden – Spanish Cove Drive route felt good. A “cool” front passed through earlier in the morning with the wind out of the NE at 8 mph. The temperature was not changed a lot but the humidity and dew point decreased by the time I finished at 12:03 PM. I could feel a little coolness even though the temperature was in the low 90’s. Riding east over Lake Houston into a stiff headwind was hard but the return was much easier thanks to a semi tailwind. Weather overall: Start 83 degrees, 68% humidity, dew point 71.2, partly cloudy, wind NE 8 mph; Finish 92 degrees, 46% humidity, dew point 68.3, a few clouds, wind NE 13 mph.
Traffic patterns changed at the FM 1960 construction zone between Pinehurst Trail Drive and Atascocita shores Drive to the east. No problem crossing over on Pinehurst Trail. Turning right from Atascocita Shores Drive onto FM 1960 to go over the lake the traffic was moved to the left with orange barrels giving space to ride separate from the traffic until the concrete barriers on my right ended and then moving on the shoulder. On the way back traffic was moved left and the area behind orange barrels on the right was gone but traffic was light from where the shoulder ended to the right turn onto Atascocita Shores.
The 35.91 miles today moved my August total to 894.3 and with two days left I should get over 900 miles.
