WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — One of the most exciting parts of Hotter ‘N Hell weekend is the beloved Criterium Races.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, reporter Markeshia Jackson learned a little more about what all goes into the races.
“So the Crit races are just local races,” FallsTown Cycling President Ron Hammons said. “They’re on a circuit course right here in downtown. It’s all on the street, spectator-friendly. You get to get right in the midst of all the action.” …

CORINTH, TX, August 17, 2023 – The Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual “Rolling into Fall” Bicycle Rally on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Air up your tires, grab your helmets, and get ready to ride! The rally will start at Thousand Hills Church at 8380 S Stemmons Freeway, Hickory Creek, TX 75065. There are three route options for all experience levels, including 15, 29, and 41-mile routes, with an optional additional 11 miles. End your ride with breakfast tacos and ice cream, provided by the Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce!

Fort Bend County proposes landmark $712 million mobility bond for November ballot

Fort Bend voters in November will decide on the largest bond proposal in county history, at a total of $712.6 million.
To address pressing infrastructure needs, commissioners this month called for the bond election that, if passed, may help fund mobility projects for the next 15 years. The referendum will be on the ballot alongside another $153 million package dedicated to parks and facilities. …

Sherril Gardner BeMent 1948 – 2023

Sherril “Sherri” Gardner BeMent, age 75, ended her five year battle with lung cancer, on August 10, 2023, peacefully in her sleep at her home in Fulshear, Tx, with her husband, W. Owen BeMent at her side. Sherri was born on April 22, 1948, in New Brunswick, NJ, to John Irving Gardner and Edith Mae (Unglaub) Gardner. She graduated from New Providence High School and then obtained her BS in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1970. She then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and worked at the Jewish Community Hospital as an RN. She met her husband, of 47 years, on a blind date in 1975 and they were married 8 months later. They moved to Fairchilds, Tx, in 1976 and she continued working as a nurse for several years at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and later at Memorial Southwest where she specialized in recovering heart bypass patients in the ICU. …
… She loved to travel and saw 49 of 50 states (missed Oregon) and four continents. She later took up bicycle riding and completed several long-distance non-competitive rides in Texas, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She was always active in her church and was a long-time member of Grand Parkway Baptist Church in Richmond, Tx. She is survived by …
