Down past the chapel and the Angel of Hope statue along the University of the Incarnate Word’s campus, the beginnings of the San Antonio River bubble to the surface from San Antonio Springs.
The spring — better known as the Blue Hole — is surrounded by a 53-acre woodland area and a network of walking trails that meander through Live Oak trees, eventually bringing hikers and bikers back to where they started.
But what if you could stay on the trail and, Forrest Gump-style, just keep walking all the way to Austin, without ever needing to leave the trail system? …

It went better than expected. Good balance between early solo, then catching faster groups, and after a rest stop around 64 miles, taking it easier in the increasingly hot environment. 229 miles to go for a lifetime 150,000 miles. Century #11 this year.

Contributed a leadout to at least two riders cracking the top 10 on Torcido, set some new short duration PRs, and got some good miles with friends. A little of everything, maybe junk miles but fun and felt strong.
Also, I dunno what this “Half Torcido Hill” segment is but that’s not a thing.

- 5 days sick.
- We rode in Peloton 40 miles, after that only 3 riders.
- Too hot/no legs/no energy/no balls to keep going.
Thanks to SWCC for allowing us to ride with them. Great job KFC organizers.

Getting in a ride early to beat the heat & enjoy the beautiful Salado Creek greenway. The trails are busy during the morning times so be patient with each other & make sure to yield for walkers/ runners.
