EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A 19-year-old man from Edinburg was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and fatally striking a cyclist, authorities said.
Alan Nicolas Rios, 19, was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter and accident involving death, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. …
USA Cycling Announces 2023 Road World Championship Teams

32 athletes have been selected to the Road team competing at the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo./ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships will make history in Glasgow, Scotland as the first World Championship where 13 events will be contested across 7 disciplines. 32 athletes will compete in the road events on August 5-12, 2023.
This event is one of the first automatic Olympic qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for both the Road Race and the Time Trial. Olympic selection procedures can be viewed, here.
Matteo Jorgenson (Boise, Idaho; Movistar Team), Neilson Powless (Roseville, Calif.; EF Education-EasyPost), and Lawson Craddock (Houston; Team BikeExchange-Jayco) will be racing the Road Race fresh off their performances at the Tour de France. Road Race National Champion Quinn Simmons (Durango, Colo.; Lidl-Trek) will also be competing given his withdrawal from the Tour. Time Trial National Champion Brandon McNulty (Phoenix; UAE Team Emirates) will be taking a crack at the rainbow stripes in the Time Trial World Championships. Magnus Sheffield (Pittsford, N.Y.; Ineos Grenadiers) will make his return after his crash in the Tour de Suisse. Police arrest bicyclist weeks after camera captures mob destroying car in Third Ward

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A cyclist has been arrested after a mob was caught on video swarming a driver in Houston’s Third Ward, according to police.
On Monday, Houston police said in a tweet that Michael Len Johnson was arrested two weeks after being charged with felony criminal mischief.
On June 26, the 42-year-old was charged for allegedly heavily damaging a vehicle at 4357 S. Macgregor Way on June 15.

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) – In the wake of two fatal bicycle accidents in Edinburg, authorities have new warnings about being safe on the streets.
A local McAllen bicycle shop, it is well-known that cycling is a popular sport here in the Valley.
“I think the cycling community is pretty predominant here in the Rio Grande Valley. Usually during the summer in the valley, it’s pretty hard to ride your bike.
