Second Ride Canyon Endurace CF7 Bike; Still Feels New
Second day in a row starting the bike ride before 9 AM. This could be a trend. I wanted an early start to beat the heat and allow time to take the Cervelo Caledonia to the bike shop for the front brake. The lever is soft and in a few rides I won’t have a front brake. Don’t want to repeat the rear brake issue. Starting before 9 AM required me to not watch the Tour de Suisse live but on replay after the ride.
The Canyon Endurace CF7 was the bike of choice for today’s’ ride. I want to get to 100 miles and the only way to get there is to ride the Canyon. I rode to the south and east on the Atascocita – Walden – Spanish Cove Drive route out the driveway at 8:48 AM. I made one route change from the usual streets turning right from Pinehurst Trails Drive onto PineWind Drive and back to Pinehurst Trail on Twelfth Fairway Drive. This wasn’t planned but the extra distance would come in handy. I’ve biked this route a number of times this year almost exclusively on the Cervelo Caledonia bike. Today I rode 35.71 miles, about the average distance. June now totals 396.92 miles, 45 miles ahead of the daily average of 27 miles needed to reach my 800 mile goal.
The Canyon Endurace rode smoothly. I encountered some dirt clumps on FM 2100 on the way to Spanish Cove Drive from trucks exiting a construction site. The shoulder on the west bound causeway over Lake Houston is littered with rocks from road construction and they were no problem. I continue to enjoy the silence from the freewheel when coasting. I made one stop to adjust the GoPro mount. I didn’t position the way I wanted after yesterday’s ride.
