Lancaster Road + Bike Trails
Not a good start on today’s bike ride. First, the Bolt computer did not show 3 sec average watts. This required powering off the Bolt and restarting it. After it reloaded the 3/10’s of a mile I rode it was displaying the watts. Then I noticed the rear disc brake was not braking. I squeezed the brake lever all the way to the handle bar but kept moving. I hesitated for a few seconds about continuing the ride but decided the front brake would be enough since I was going to ride on the shoulder of N. Memorial Drive (Lancaster, OH) and then on the bike trails I used Saturday. This time I hoped to not make any wrong turns on the trails.
The ride began at 12:27 PM on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. I made one loop around River Valley Mall, climb a hill up to the traffic light at N. Memorial Drive. Left through the traffic light there was a wide but littered shoulder. I rode to Coonpath Road NW and made the u-turn to ride back to Ety Road. Ety Road took me to the trailhead. I kept the speed low because of the rear brake and the occasional people riding and walking. This time I made all of the correct turns and no excursions away from the trails. I was prepared for the gravel in Martens Park and saw the reason for the detour, a bridge was closed with a barrier. At the end of the trail I made a u-turn at Kroger and headed back finishing at 2:46 PM.
I’m going to check with a local bike shop about the rear brake. Hopefully it is a quick and easy fix.
