3 Dog Sprint On A Recovery Ride? Why Not!
Recovery bike ride with a shorter time window to ride for today. After two days biking south I went north on the New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch route. The start was 5 minutes earlier than yesterday at 8:56 AM on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. In Tavola I added two short loops on streets off of Via Principal Parkway to add a few tenths of a mile to the distance. It’s been 20 days since I rode this route last. I biked 36.74 miles which is about the average distance the last 12 months. Those miles boosted my week total to 168.59 miles which above the typical number for Thursdays. I moved to 588.14 miles leaving 161.9 miles to my goal. In the last 12 months I rode my Cervelo for all of the rides except two. I finished the ride at 11:41 AM.
As I rode through Woodridge Forest on Log Orchard Lane three large dogs came out of a driveway barking. Two of the three gave chase, one on each side of me. I sped up but they kept even with me but lost interest as I neared the stop sign where a car was standing. I went around the car in case the dogs caught up. This was the first time encountering dogs on this street. Hopefully the last since I ride there each week.
Weather conditions: Start 77 degrees, 69% humidity, 65.8 dew point, a few clouds, wind NE 5 mph; Finish 81 degrees, 62% humidity, 67 dew point, a few clouds, wind variable 4 mph. The light wind felt good blowing against my jersey and arm sleeves.
