SAN ANTONIO – A teen was heading home from work on his bicycle when he was hit and killed by a pickup truck on the South Side, according to San Antonio police.

I have been part of fitness, running and exercise as long as I can remember. At a younger age it was called “playing,” even when it meant running or riding a bike in a race around the block. Games were almost always associated with running or throwing or climbing something. There were not many of the group that were considered overweight. We were always moving to burn off extra calories.
Looking at how technology and liability issues have changed how youngsters and adults exercise in present day, it is easy to see why overweight and obesity are problems today. My first bike was a blue and orange ACE bike that must have weighed 25 pounds. It had one speed. If you wanted to go faster you had to pedal faster. Opening up new trail on Southwestern Campus as part of our new agreement with them to add several miles of singletrack adjacent to the already established Katy Crossing loop in San Gabriel Park.
Tools provided but feel free to bring your own.
9 am start both days at Katy Trailhead (low water bridge on east side of San Gabriel Park). We will shuttle people to the dig location so please arrive on time!

29 MAY 5:30 AM Monday Meet Up Spot 3440 Riley Fuzzel Rd, Spring, Texas 77386 Tempo / Rolling Hills 1500 elevation attacking 242, 1488 and 105. Average speed will be above or around 19 to 20 plus mph. Early start is best due to the extremely hot conditions. Please be prepared with protein, drinks and bike essentials. This ride tends to split into 2 groups, please know your limits. Make sure to download the route. Rolling at 5:30am sharp, don’t be left behind.
