Sporadic Mist, Wet Roads, Cervelo Gets A Bath
I didn’t check the weather radar before getting ready for today’s bike ride. As I sat at the breakfast table putting on my shoes I heard rain hitting the patio cover. It didn’t last long but the driveway and streets were wet. I waited a few minutes thinking about riding Zwift but since the rain stopped I decided to go on my planned route, “Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman”. This began at 10:28 AM as I rode away on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. This would be the third ride on this route in 2022, all three on my Cervelo bike. I rode 38.92 miles about the average distance. I added the circle of streets in Kingwood Greens thinking this would get me close to 37 miles. I’m 82.68 miles for the week and 104.07 for the month, 15% of the way to my 700 mile goal.
Weather continued to affect the ride with short stretches of light rain mist and wet roads. As I rode to Ramsey Road on Old Atascocita Road I glanced in my mirror to see what looked like threatening clouds to the west. Later biking west on FM 1960 the shoulder was wet until I got to the middle over Lake Houston. To go along with the sporadic mist the wind strengthened. The hardest place was riding east on Old Atascocita Road from FM 2100. There isn’t much to get in the way of the wind when it comes from the south and southeast.
The AXS.SRAM.com ride report highlights: 3:05:08 total biking time, 35×13 gearing ride time 1:35:37 (23.5 miles), 35×15 gearing ride time 1:06:09 (11.4 miles), 31 RD shifts, and 2 FD shifts. I did the FD shifts to remind myself how to do them.
The Cervelo needed a bath after finishing the bike ride at 1:37 PM.
The road construction will close the Pinehurst Trail Drive crossing of FM 1960 from May 9th to the 16th.
