RGV cyclists push for more mountain bike trails
by: Xochilt Lagunas | www.valleycentral.com
HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A group of cyclists in the Rio Grande Valley are working to finalize the “Six Shooter Junction” trail at Harlingen’s C.B. Wood Park.
While there are several cycling trails throughout the RGV, David Hernandez, founder of the Valley Off-Road Bicycling Association (VORBA) said there is a lack of off-road trails for mountain bikers.
“We don’t have anywhere to ride unless we build trail and/or if we maintain the trails that we already have,” said Hernandez.
He said the “Six Shooter Junction” trail will help complete the 10-mile cycling trail system at the park, one of five trail systems VORBA continues to fight for. …

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) -over 7,000 cyclists from Houston, Austin, Katy, and Waller made the journey to Kyle Field Sunday afternoon for the Bike MS 150 ride.
Bike MS150 is the largest multiple sclerosis fundraiser in the nation.
This year’s event was highly anticipated after the 2021 race was canceled the morning of due to inclement weather that swept through the Brazos Valley early that morning.
Participants say they took the trip to show their support for the people they love.
I’m riding for that woman right there,” said Nathaniel Beal of Houston. Poonam Marj is the middle of three sisters and happens to be the younger sister of my girlfriend. She was diagnosed with MS February of 2019 and I’ve …

Texas MS 150 achieves grand finale Sunday at Kyle Field, thousands in attendance
By: Chris Talley | www.kxxv.com
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Kyle Field was filled with an Aggie-sized crowd for the Texas MS 150 finishing day Sunday.
College Station Mayor Karl Mooney explained how the event finally got to happen in the city this year.
“To have the Texas MS 150 here is huge,” Mayor Mooney said.
“It doesn’t say so much about College Station but more about how the folks here in Texas embrace a cause that we really need to find a cure for but, today is a red-letter day in College Station.”

Reflections and Lessons Learned
Wednesday April 20, 2022 My first group tour was a good experience. Although I rode alone most of the time, I enjoyed the company of our teammates at rest stops along the route and at our campsites. Riding with a group did not present any significant constraints. We were all free to ride and explore at our own pace. The biggest advantage to riding with a group was at mealtime. We ate far better than I would have traveling alone. And everyone was only responsible for preparing one meal cycle (dinner in the evening, breakfast and lunch the following day) during the entire trip, leaving us lots of free time during afternoons and evenings.
Among the comforts and conveniences of a van-supported tour: …

What a night behind the Traveling Tiger Center Texas 87 Truck Stop. It made sense on paper, being that it was halfway between Van Horn and El Paso. Another option would have been a hotel twenty miles further into yesterday’s headwind. Yesterday after I arrived, I was able to sit at a table at the back of the store for hours while I recharged my devices and caught up on work. When it got dark, I set up my tent out back. There was enough space for two hundred trucks in the lot, but there were only thirty. The truck stop was noisy. While setting up my tent I got pricked by a goat head that tore its way into my finger. A car alarm …
