Early Start, A Few Cyclists, Amazing Month Of Biking
Today’s bike ride started at 8:34 AM, the earliest start time this week. The weather was warm enough and I wanted to leave early to see other cyclists around Lake Houston. I rode my Cervelo Caledonia bike following my “Atascocita – Huffman – Walden” route. Before the ride I biked 180.44 miles this week and today’s ride would be long enough to get me over the 200 mile mark for the week.
By the time I finished at 11:04 AM (some rides didn’t start that early this week) I rode 33.27 miles putting the week at 213.72 miles and the month at 1014.93 miles. This is the 7th week in a row at 200+ miles. April is the first month since July 2021 at 1000+ miles. July was 1027.67 miles. Year to date I biked 2301.5 road miles and 679.9 Zwift miles for a total of 2981.4 miles. I biked today’s route 5 times this year.
The MS150 started today and I didn’t expect to see many cyclists during the ride but I saw 7 or so and some are in the video. Also I saw route markers for tomorrow’s Tour de Rouge bike ride that starts in Humble.
No problem riding through the road construction area at Atascocita shores Drive and FM 1960. I went through riding east and west to get to Walden. FM 2100 north of Old Atascocita Road continued the barrels marking the right shoulder which I biked behind. Two places workers were getting ready to pour concrete for driveways onto FM 2100 and I briefly moved to the left of the barrels to get around them.
Wind behaved today staying at 10 mph or below. I felt a few sprinkles on the east side of Lake Houston and some clouds looked like they contained moisture. I wore shorts, a long sleeve t-shirt, and a short sleeve Texbiker.net jersey. Weather: start 75 (humidity 91%, dew point 71), mostly cloudy, wind S 5 mph; finish 80 (humidity 77%, dew point 72), mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph.
Some data from the AXS.SRAM.com ride report: total ride time 2:22:50, 35×15 ride time 55:02, 35×13 ride time 1:07:38, 23 RD shifts, 35×15 distance 12.2 miles, 35×13 distance 17 miles, max power 411 watts, and average cadence 57 rpm.
After yesterday’s bike ride I waxed the Cervelo’s chain because it was making sounds during the ride. Today it was quiet.
