Construction Progress: Not Much. New Clothing Performance
Today was an investigation bike ride. I wanted to see if the construction at Atascocita Shores Drive and FM 1960 progressed to allow me to ride on the right side of the barriers instead of the left side in traffic. I chose the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route for this. I rolled out on the Cervelo Caledonia at 11:58 AM in a little warmer weather and lots of sun. Wind was from the north at 0 mph or calm. It was the same when I finished at 2:35 PM which is not the norm. Humidity and dew point were very low. If only they were that way in July and August. Four times I biked this route so far in 2022. Today’s effort was very similar to the other rides. I saw another cyclist on Pines Place Drive. I’ve pass the same cyclist in this spot numerous times.
I’m going to research a route going south of Lake Houston and returning from the east to avoid the east bound construction at Atascocita Shores Drive.
The goal for March is 650 miles. Today’s 33.33 miles is a great start.
New bike clothes on today’s ride. My order from Bellwether arrived this morning so I decided to wear the wind jacket and one of the long sleeve jerseys. The long sleeve jersey fabric had a different feel to it, soft but not clinging. The three rear pockets are different. I wore a short sleeve jersey over the long sleeve one so I didn’t use the pockets. The jacket sleeves remove but I rarely if ever take them off. The two front pockets have partial Velcro closures which I like to keep the GoPro from coming out. The medium size of both fit nicely.
The Cervelo continues to please me with the easy shifting. I shifted more today, mostly when going uphill. I connected the SRAM data to Wahoo to see which gears I use and how much.
