Burkburnett PD to donate bicycles to kids

BURKBURNETT, Texas (KAUZ) – The Burkburnett Police Department is giving back to their community in a special way. Next week, they are donating free bicycles to kids between the ages of six and 10.
Here’s the catch: they’re looking for special kids who have completed an act of kindness. The department’s police chief said they came up with the idea to show kids that doing something that helps another person can have its rewards. …

Kyle Larry Robertson went to be with his Lord Jan. 31, 2022, his 44th birthday. He loved the ocean and died in Galveston.
He was born to Charlie and Maryla Robertson on a cold and icy day, Jan. 31, 1978, in Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Always smiling, happy and fun loving, he was always up for a good time. In his youth, he excelled in the USA BMX Bicycle Association, winning first place in his division race at nationals in Oklahoma City and state championships. He traveled extensively chasing points and was rated as one of the best in his class in the nation.
Kyle was a 1996 graduate of Northwest High School.

WOOD COUNTY, Texas — A bicyclist was killed in the Winnsboro area after her bike was struck by two vehicles Wednesday afternoon.
Kimberly M. Dewitt, 29, of Dallas, was riding a bike on FM 312 while a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle and a 2021 Toyota Tacoma were behind her driving in the same direction, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

A man behind the wheel of a Toyota Tundra who hit and killed a 73-year-old cyclist Monday morning in southwest Houston could face a felony charge under a new crosswalk law believed to have never been applied before, advocates said.

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Russell Hartsfield, an avid cyclist and Georgetown resident, experienced a heart attack on Father’s Day last year.
Now he and his doctor, Dr. Jay Pandya, Interventional Cardiologist/Austin Heart at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, want others to be aware of the symptoms of a heart attack, and how to prevent heart disease.
Hartsfield says he felt severe discomfort in his chest and down his left arm while he was on a planned 24-mile bike ride. He eventually decided to go to St. David’s when the pain did not go away.
