Weather Too Good To Ride Indoors
The weather was too good to ride Zwift indoors today. Rolling away at 10:57 AM on the Lynskey R300 bike I chose the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route. I wondered if the FM 2100 construction had changed during my absence. By the 1:42 PM finish I rode 33.56 miles. I felt good and the wind was friendly with my still recovering legs.
On Pines Place Drive another cyclist passed me riding the opposite direction. Nice to know I wasn’t the only cyclist enjoying the warm December weather. Later on Fairlake Lane a group of cyclists were in the parking lot. One cyclist was at the entrance and we exchanged hi’s. After I passed he rode to the north towards FM 1960. I think the others had finished their ride.
At FM 2100 I saw the south bound lanes were open. I needed to decide how I would ride to FM 1960. I chose the sidewalk on the west side of the road. Portions of it were covered with dirt but not mud so I rode over it. At the entrance to Richard Automation it looked like the sidewalk was either not finished or covered in dirt. I rode to the center of FM 2100 and waited for an opening in the traffic to ride to the sidewalk. Previously the sidewalk on the east side had lots of overgrowth but today it was clear. North of the church the sidewalk ended and I moved to the main lane. A big break in the traffic allowed me to get to the railroad crossing without any problem. In the middle of the road an excavator dug up the old asphalt in preparation for concrete. Not sure how long that will take.
The light wind provided a headwind at times but not too strong. The ride back to Kingwood generally had a tailwind or side wind. Crossing Lake Houston was not too hard with the wind from my left and broken up by passing traffic.
Weather summary: start 79 (humidity 77%, dew point 71), partly cloudy, wind S 5 mph; finish 80 (humidity 69%, dew point 69), partly cloudy, wind N 0 mph.
