Should I Go For The Goal And Ignor Warm Weather?
I continued my recovery with today’s bike ride. It began at 10:56 AM as I rode away on my Canyon Endurace bike. The route was longer than yesterday as I rode north following “Kingwood – Community Drive – Valley Ranch”. This was the 2nd time on this route in 2021, both times were in December. The ride traveled 26.83 miles pushing the week to 43.39 miles and December to 491.5 miles. My legs felt good pedaling even into the headwind on the way back to Kingwood.
Upper 70’s at the start and 81 by the time I finished at 1:12 PM. Summer attire again with shorts, arm sleeves, and a short sleeve jersey. Weather summary: start 78 (humidity 83%, dew point 72), mostly cloudy, wind S 9 mph; finish 81 (humidity 70%, dew point 70), mostly cloudy, wind SW 7 mph. A couple of more warm days before a front arrives.
While I pedaled away I was thinking maybe I should ride Zwift the next 2 days to reach my goal for the year even though the weather will be warm and probably dry. I reached my road mile goal for the month and year with miles to spare. SportTracks will remind me for at least a month if I miss the Zwift goal.
Below is the chart showing year to date miles from 2011 to 2021. 2021 is the most miles I have rode in a year with 2020 the next. For most of the year 2021 went up and down versus 2020 until late August. The totals include Zwift and road miles for 2019, 2020, and 2021.
The south bound lanes on Valley Ranch Parkway are now open from Valley Ranch Bend to FM 1314. There is a narrow shoulder but with 2 lanes I had no problem with cars passing and giving me space. When traffic was gone I moved to the left into a lane.
