Almost A Crash And Duck Feeding Frenzy
A later start for today’s bike with the Canyon Endurace wheels rolling at 12:51 PM. This gave the weather some time to warm up and I took advantage of that wearing shorts, short sleeve jersey, and arm sleeves. By the time I finished at 3:03 PM the clouds increased but the temperature stayed at 76. I rode my “Atascocita – Walden – E. Lake Houston Parkway” route going 28.24 miles. Added to yesterday’s miles December totals 60.64 miles, 40% of my road miles goal in 2 days. Not a very big goal though at 150 miles. Today was the 9th time biking this route in 2021.
Year to date I biked 8,986 miles (road + Zwift) which is 152 miles more than 2020. Taking time for my trip to New York City I thought I wouldn’t catch up.
The video shows the duck frenzy.
Excitement happened as I rode the greenbelt rail beside Kingwood Drive next to Kingwood High School. At the entrance to the school I slowed to cross with a car waiting to my right on the other side of Kingwood Drive. Traffic was approaching and I didn’t think the car would dart across but they did. I grabbed the right brake lever, sliding the rear tire, turned to the left as the car pulled up beside me. They stopped and I went in front of the car across the entrance and back on the trail. A flashback to a crash I had in 2013 at Atascocita High School when a girl pulled out in front of me and I slammed into the car.
Weather conditions for the bike ride: tart 76 (humidity 69%, dew point 66) mostly cloudy, wind N 0 mph; finish 77 (humidity 67%, dew point 65), mostly cloudy, wind W 5 mph. Friday weather probably will repeat today which means another day to ride.
