On December 1st I Don’t Remember 76 Degrees Where I Grew Up
December bike rides started with some warm weather which is an important reason why I live in the Houston area. I have a modest road biking goal for December, 150 miles. The weather can be chilly and wet so I don’t expect to ride as much as other months. To get off to a good start I began today’s ride at 11:33 AM aboard my Canyon Endurace bike. The route went north on my “Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood” riding 32.41 miles by the time I finished at 2:12 PM. That leaves 118 miles for the rest of the month. My other goal is 133 miles on Zwift rides.
The ride passed many yards with Christmas decorations. The video has clips from a couple of them.
Weather conditions: start 73 (humidity 71%, dew point 63), partly cloudy, wind N 0 mph; finish 76 (humidity 59%, dew point 60), mostly cloudy, wind W 7 mph. I wore shorts, a long sleeve jersey with a short sleeve jersey over that. The weather forecast points to more weather like this until Sunday. I plan on taking advantage of it while its here. Where I grew up (SE Ohio) I don’t remember 76 degrees on December 1st.
On the way to FM 1485 the tailwind allowed me to keep my speed at 17 mph or above. On the way back to Kingwood the headwind hampered me at time but my legs felt good and I powered along.
