What I Did To Become A Local Legend
As I got ready for today’s bike ride an idea came to mind. Last weekend I lost the Strava local legend for the Lake Houston Bridge – EB. Today’s route would go over the bridge. Why not loop back over the bridge and ride it twice and see if I can regain the local legend status. I started the ride at 11:05 AM on my Canyon Endurace bike to go on my “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route with the additional loop over Lake Houston. I finished at 2:02 PM not knowing if I regain the local legend. It didn’t take long to find out I am now the Strava Local Legend on Lake Houston Bridge – EB. The extra loop added some miles to the ride coming in at 37.94. I’m getting closer to my 625 mile goal for October with 571.73 miles. The week is off to a good start with 74.4 miles so far. Maybe a 200 mile week?
Weather conditions returned to a more SE Texas variety with higher humidity and dew point but the temperature couldn’t get out of the 70’s when I finished the ride. The wind was okay. I wore a long sleeve jersey under a short sleeve one but I could’ve wore arm sleeves and the short sleeve jersey and been comfortable. What the weather was like: start 73 (67% humidity, 61 dew point), partly cloudy, wind NE 5 mph; finish 78 (68% humidity, 67 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph.
The route is one I ride frequently with today being the 14th time this year. I’ll keep this ride in the same group even though I crossed Lake Houston 4 times.
