A Hint Of Fall In The Air
A hint of fall weather awaited as I got up this morning. It stayed around for the bike ride with a low dew point and humidity. I set out at 9:38 AM under a beautiful sky on my Canyon Endurace bike and finished at 12:51 PM. The route took me to the south and then east before turning back to return to Kingwood. I call this my “Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman” route. 8 times I rode this route in 2021. Today’s ride was typical for the 7 other times. The ride went 38.73 miles. After this ride my week totals 78.91 miles and September 213.89 miles. My goal for September is 700 miles.
Another cyclist passed me going the opposite direction on Fairlake Lane. He is in the video.
That fall like weather made it feel cool even though the sun was in full view. I was surprised after the ride that salt stains appeared on my arm sleeves. I didn’t think it was that hot. Maybe the low humidity and dew point evaporated my sweat quickly leaving the salt. Weather conditions summary: start 78 (86% humidity, 73 dew point), partly cloudy, wind NE 6 mph; finish 85 (50% humidity, 64 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind NE 8 mph. The light wind allowed me to ride at a good pace building my average speed up to 14.1 mph as I rode west over Lake Houston and into Kingwood.
Early in the ride I thought my legs felt heavy but that went away as I rode.
Pictures from the rest stop at the bridge on Ramsey Road. Sitting in the shade the light breeze felt good.
