Explored FM 2100 Construction From Stroker Road North
Following yesterday’s long bike ride I followed up with another 40+ mile bike ride. I started at 8:58 AM pushing aside the things that slowed my started yesterday. I chose a route only done once this year, “Kingwood – Stroker Road – Kingwood”. Today’s route was different from the earlier one in that I rode north on FM 2100 from Stroker Road rather than riding back from FM 2100 on the roads that got me there. The distance ended up about 4 miles less at 42.38 miles. The week’s total improved to 92.8 miles. August’s total looks great at 787.9 miles, just short of my 800 mile goal. 2021 YTD is ahead of 2020 by 227 miles, 6576 versus 6349.
Finishing at 12:10 PM got me back home before the hottest part of the day. I put extra ice in the CamelBak and a granola bar in the pouch. I didn’t stop to eat the granola bar though. Weather conditions: start 86 (79% humidity, 78.5 dew point), a few clouds, wind calm; finish 92 (50% humidity, 70.9 dew point), partly cloudy, wind calm. My arm sleeves and shorts showed streaks of salt from the sweat. The lower humidity (for SE Texas anyway) helped it feel slightly cooler whenever I rode through shade. Calm wind made for limited headwinds.
