A Little New With Some Old, Forest Cove – Oakhurst – Valley Ranch
After yesterday’s bike ride when I saw a section of the new San Jacinto Bayou Greenway I didn’t know about I decided to incorporate it into today’s bike ride. I modified a route I used 6 times before in 2021. I kept the same route name because most of the route was the same, “Forest Cove – Oakhurst – Valley Ranch”, but inserted San Jacinto Bayou Greenway before riding to Oakhurst. Then at FM 1314 I rode NW to loop by Porter High School before returning to FM 1314 and the usual roads in the route. This bike ride covered 33.01 miles which is longer than the other times I biked the route. With those miles I’m well positioned to hit 200 miles for the week and over 1,000 miles for July with one day left. The week sits at 183.18 miles and July at 995.3 miles. So far I’ve missed only one day of biking.
While the San Jacinto Bayou Greenway is new to me it is not for a bunch of Strava bikers. I notched a personal record on the Super Secret 4×4 Shortcut (1:08) segment but 10 others beat my time.
I stopped at Ashley’s@Valley Ranch for a very short rest stop and took this photo there. The red of my Canyon Endurace, the Mustang and the words all go together.
