Rain Cooled New Caney – Roman Forest – Valley Ranch Bike Ride
Last night we got about 4/10″ of rain which cooled the weather down slightly for the start of today’s bike ride. In the sun it was hot but the shade felt cool. It began at 10:02 AM as I rode away on my Canyon Endurace bike. I chose the “New Caney – Roman Forest – Valley Ranch” for the distance it provided. I wanted to get closer to a 200 mile week. I biked 41.59 miles, about average for the 5 times I rode this route in 2021. Those miles moved the week to 110.15 miles and July to 922.27 miles. They also closed the deficit to 2020 to 15 miles. It hasn’t been this close in many week. YTD 2021 is up to 5,683 miles. I could ride 1,000 miles this month.
My legs felt good and the wind was light allowing me to get my average speed up to 14.2 mph for most of the ride back to Kingwood. No other bikers crossed my route except two young boys riding their bikes with fishing poles in Tavola. You can see them in the video. Lots of blue sky though the clouds increased to the south.
Weather conditions: start 85 (70% humidity, 74 dew point), a few clouds, wind N 6 mph; finish 89 (58% humidity, 72.5 dew point), partly cloudy, wind NE 5 mph. It was hot when I finished at 1:28 PM. You can see how much I sweated at the end of the video.
