Back Home, New Axles, Not As Hot Bike Ride
Back in Kingwood after yesterday’s bike ride in Galveston. I started earlier at 10:10 AM and it didn’t feel as hot. But no sea breeze and waves to watch. I rode my Canyon Endurace bike today on the “Atascocita – Walden – FM 2100” route. I biked 33.43 miles today. The week now totals 68.55 miles. I will need to ride a longer ride to get to a 200 mile week. July is up to 880.68 miles. Today was the 12th ride on this route in 2021. I might get close to 1,000 miles for July.
Nothing out of the ordinary on the ride. The construction on FM 2100 shows signs of progress with the base laid for concrete pavement in places. When that is complete the shoulder lane will be back, no need to ride on the “jungle” sidewalk to FM 1960.
It didn’t feel as hot as yesterday. Weather conditions: start 86 (71% humidity, 75.1 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind W 5 mph; finish 89 (62% humidity, 74.4 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind calm.
I wondered if my legs would be tired today but not the case. I was tired last night and went to bed an hour early.
Before the ride I replaced the original Lynskey thru axles on my R300 with The Robert Axle Project Lightning axles. They look nice, easier to insert and tighten. They use a 6mm hex key to tighten and release. I checked my multi-tool to be sure it had one.
