SAN ANTONIO — I have ridden thousands of miles on a bicycle and thought I knew just about everything was was to know about riding. Then I tried mountain-biking. Boy, did I get an education!
I have always ridden road bikes, but always wanted to try mountain-biking. I had no idea how different and just how tough it is.
With a road bike, it is a nice smooth ride where you’re only really challenged when you come to a significant hill.

MARSHALL — In the summer of 1981, a 28-year old Steve Myhrberg of Glens Falls, New York set out on a cross-country bicycle trip with his wife Pat in celebration of their eight-year anniversary. The couple went on to make it through the first leg of the tour, which included a stop in Marshall to visit Steve’s brother Phil, but the pair ended up falling just short of their ultimate goal.
Now, 40 years later, the two are back on the road and eager to finish what they started.

Bikes and parts are proving hard to find for New Braunfels shops

With more people buying bikes during the pandemic to get some fresh air, shops everywhere are facing bike and parts shortages while repairs ramp up.
Bike sales rose 78% during the pandemic, according to NPD Group, a market-research firm.
