Biked By Previous Home, Closing In On Some Goals
Today I rode my “Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood” route with a couple of variations. I started the bike ride at 10:03 AM on my Canyon Endurace bike. The weather was heating up so I should’ve started earlier. But finishing at 12:31 PM avoided the hottest part of the day. The variations were a loop through Brooklyn Trails and later a loop on the street we used to live on in New Caney (see the video). These added to the typical distance which ended up at 32.11 miles. This bumped my week to 187.08 miles setting up tomorrow’s bike ride to put me over the 200 mile mark. July is getting close to my 800 mile goal at 762.45 miles. Today was the 10th ride on this route in 2021. 2021 YTD miles are 5,523. The deficit to 2020 YTD is 73 miles; I’m holding that to double digits.
My legs felt stronger today than yesterday. I built my overall average speed up to 14.1 mph and held it there for awhile. Hopefully they are the same or better on tomorrow’s bike ride.
The rainy weather is taking a break and heating up for today and the next couple of days. An early start on Saturday is a good idea. The CamelBak is getting a workout keeping my water cold until the end of the ride. Today’s weather for the bike ride: start 86 (77% humidity, 78 dew point), partly cloudy, wind S 5 mph; finish 90 (62% humidity, 75.7 dew point), partly cloudy, wind SW 9 mph.
